Celebrating Our 2026 Outstanding Food Producer Awards

We are over the moon - the results for the 2026 Outstanding Food Producer Awards (OFPA) are in, and Patagonia Chocolates has had an incredible haul. In a year that marks a decade of celebrating the best of Aotearoa’s food industry, we couldn’t be prouder to see our hard work recognised on the national stage.

 

Our Gold Medal Winners

We may be biased but we think our products are delicious but this is what the judges had to say:

  • Cocktail Bonbons (GOLD): These were a hit for their "technical excellence" and "great presentation". The judges particularly loved the "well-balanced flavour" and that signature "crunchy sugar crystal" texture.

  • Nocciola (GOLD): Our signature hazelnut spread wowed the panel with its "lush and shiny appearance" and "even smooth texture". It’s official - the judges "loved" it just as much as we do.

 

Silver Success

Our Cherry & Pinot Bonbons also secured a Silver medal. After picking organic cherries from our very own orchard in Clyde, we soak them in Central Otago Pinot Noir for 72 hours, before enrobing them in a smooth & rich Pinot Ganache and a 71% dark chocolate shell. The judges called them a "classic combo done well".

If you’re looking for the perfect way to cap off a dinner party (or just a quiet Tuesday night), our Gold-winning Cocktail Bonbons are the answer. Designed to mimic the sophisticated profiles of your favourite serves, these bonbons hit the spot.

 We use flavours inspired by the classic cocktails: Negroni, Espresso Martini and the Old Fashioned, and make them with premium spirits from our local friends at Broken Heart Spirits.

 

How Do You Nocciola?

We take Canterbury grown hazelnuts and roast them in house before blending them with rich cocoa to make a smooth chocolate hazelnut paste. Here’s some ideas on how to enjoy it: 

  • The Classic Crunch: Spread it thick on hot, toast for a decadent breakfast treat.

  • Fruit's Best Friend: Use it as a dip for fresh strawberries, cherries or banana.

  • A Baker’s Secret: Swirl it into brownie batter before baking, or use it as a rich filling for homemade crepes and croissants.

  • Straight from the Jar: We won't tell anyone if you just use a spoon!
